Privacy Policy
Last updated: 4 June 2026
1. Who we are
Fairslate operates the website at fairslate.com.au (the “Service”). We help Australian homeowners understand the federal Cheaper Home Batteries rebate and connect them with accredited solar and battery installers.
You can contact us at: hello@fairslate.com.au
2. What we collect (APP 5 collection notice)
When you request installer quotes through our Service, we collect the following categories of personal information:
- Your name and email address
- Your mobile number (optional — you may choose not to provide it)
- Your postcode and suburb
- Your answers to qualifying questions about: your existing solar status, home ownership type, quarterly electricity bill band, install timeframe, financing interest, and battery size or brand preference
- Technical data collected automatically at the time you submit your consent: your IP address, browser user-agent string, and the URL of the page from which you submitted (used solely to record your consent)
We do not collect sensitive information (as defined under the Privacy Act) and we do not collect payment card details.
This collection notice is provided in accordance with Australian Privacy Principle 5 (APP 5) of the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth).
3. Why we collect it and who we share it with
We collect your details to match you with accredited solar and battery installers (Clean Energy Council / Solar Accreditation Australia accredited), who will contact you about your enquiry. With your consent, we share your personal information with those installers and, where applicable, with a lead-matching network that operates the installer marketplace.
Where you indicate an interest in finance options, we may also refer your enquiry to a green-loan or solar-finance provider.
This means we disclose your personal information to third parties — specifically, to the installers and/or network you are matched with when you submit your enquiry. We do not sell your information to advertisers.
4. How installers and we contact you (channels and consent)
When you submit your enquiry, you are asked to consent to being contacted by phone, SMS and email by Fairslate and by the installers you are matched with, about solar and battery products and rebates.
We treat your consent to phone and SMS contact as expiring three months after it is given, consistent with the Do Not Call Register Act 2006 (Cth) and the Spam Act 2003 (Cth). You can withdraw your consent at any time — see Section 6 below.
Providing your mobile number is optional. If you do not provide it, installers will contact you by email only.
5. Consent records
At the moment you submit your enquiry, we record a consent snapshot that captures: the exact consent wording shown to you, the version of that wording, the date and time of submission, your IP address, your browser user-agent string, and a unique consent record identifier. This snapshot is our record of the consent you gave and the basis on which we contact you and share your details with installers.
6. Opt-out and unsubscribe
You can withdraw your consent and ask to be removed from our contact list at any time by:
- Using any unsubscribe or opt-out link included in messages we send you
- Emailing us at hello@fairslate.com.au and asking to be removed
We aim to action opt-out requests as soon as reasonably practicable. Every message we send identifies Fairslate as the sender. Note that if you have already been matched with installers, those installers may have their own contact records — you will need to contact them separately to opt out of their communications.
7. Retention
Consent records and delivery logs are kept for a reasonable period (generally up to two years from the date of submission) so we can demonstrate the consent on which we contacted you.
Enquiry data (your name, contact details and qualifying answers) is kept only for as long as it is needed to service the installer match and any follow-up communications, after which it is deleted or de-identified.
8. Access, correction and complaints
You have the right to request access to, or correction of, the personal information we hold about you. Please contact us at hello@fairslate.com.au.
If you believe we have not handled your personal information in accordance with the Privacy Act, you may lodge a complaint with the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (OAIC) at www.oaic.gov.au. We recommend contacting us first so we have the opportunity to resolve your concern.
9. Privacy Act basis
Because we share personal information with third-party installers as part of our Service, we act as an APP entity under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) regardless of our annual turnover.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The current version is always the one published on this page, and the date it last changed is shown at the top.
